Wind band hunts for new blowers

The largest band in North Somerset is seeking a range of musicians to join its ranks.

The aptly named "Worlewind Band" which has been performing for 14 years is seeking new members who are Grade 6+ standard in flute, french horn, or tuba, and an all round percussionist. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings throughout the year and take place at Worle Baptist Church.

The band primarily performs well known music ranging from standard swing tunes, stage and screen and popular hits form the 20th centtury.

Band organiser Julia Ratcliffe said; "We perform primarily across much of Somerset with the majority of our concerts being 'sell out' because we play toe tapping recognisable music covering all genres to a high standard, something for everybody! Many of our musicians also sing and dance and we believe in putting on a 'proper show', entertaining our audiences, not just plating at them! Needless to say, we have great fun whilst we do it!"

Their next scheduled concert will be at Cossington Village Hall on March 9th. More information on the band and their history can be found here
